Question Microsoft (Bing) translator for Windows 7 (PC download)

    Hello,
Can someone advise me whether this free app is available for Win-7 desktop?
    - Searching Microsoft download sites return many hits ... for Win-8.
    - What they laughingly call their "forum" doesn't seem to be that (unless I'm just stupid, which is possible).
    - Softpedia offers something called the Bing Translator for Win-7 but I don't trust that place (past experience with malware).
    - This windowssecrets site doesn't appear to have wrestled with the app before, hence this inquiry (again, unless my search skills are bad).

I want the translator installed on my PC.
One reason: If I ever try to use the online version after midnight (AEST), there's an excellent chance that it's offline. LOL. Any day you like to pick. Works fine during our daylight hours.

If it is freely available for Win-7, could I be given a Microsoft download link?

    Thanks in 100 languages.

I think the Bing Translator app, with the ability to download offline language packs, is only available for Windows 8.

Ok, thank you, Bruce. I'll get it then, when I upgrade in year 2030.
(And, yes, I saw the linked page... just couldn't find a Win-7 equivalent)

This is normally default with IE but if you don't have the option of Translate with Bing when you right click in the text area of a page you need to translate, you can get it from http://www.iegallery.com/en-GB/Addons/Details/5458 and this one is a sort of manual version http://www.bing.com/translator

    @Sudo15, thanks for your reply.
    I don't use IE.
I got hooked on my Firefox setup and anything less seems "not quite right" to me.

I was going to suggest Google Translate, but I doubt that you want to switch from Firefox.

I used Firefox for years but find Google Chrome to suit my needs much better now. And its translate add-in works quite well.

you can also highlight the word or sentence in I.E. and choose "translate to Bing" works like a charm
    Thanks John

I don't know if this Firefox add-on requires Internet for its language packs but you could give it a try https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...r-for-firefox/
