almost unusable now. tiny little column of text on the left is too hard to read.

    what happened?

instead of easy to read posts i now have a narrow column of text on the left and a lot of useless crap on the right

is there a setting to get back to the old useful display?

if this is to push ads then it is counterproductive
ads belong between messages if they have to be there
not squeezing the content down too small to be useful

    no users = no eyeballs
please get rid of this new layout as it sucks
and is too hard to use easily

The sidebar is a work-in-progress. iNet is deciding and implementing the approach. We only see the results and get almost no information on progress.

Check your browser zoom settings. Also, try another browser.

Browser doesn't make a difference, I use Firefox 30 [Firefox 31 is giving people problems] and see the same on IE11 and SeaMonkey, probably wouldn't be an issue if everyone ran out and purchased a 30" to 50" monitor. I use a 21.5" HP Touchscreen.

The sidebar takes up less than a third of the screen on my laptop leaving plenty of room for message display. Try holding down the ctrl key and rolling the mouse wheel until you get the best compromise of post real estate vs text size.

I personally can't stand side bars. To me they're useless and intrusive.
I run PaleMoon browser with AdBlockPlus and NoScript so all I see is a side bar with a little Windows Secret information in it, but I still find it annoying.
If I had to put up with ads I wouldn't even come here.
This is what I see (resized to better fit the forum).

I've run many forums in the past, and still run one, and I wouldn't have those useless sidebars in my forum, but maybe that's just me.

Same here, but without the WS info. Just a LOT of white space.

It would be nice if the posts expanded to include that space on the right.
How did you get rid of the WS info?

I had the 3rd of the page taken up with the side bar and noticed that the box at bottom left was showing as WIN and changing that to LOUNGE gave me the text the full width of the page, but if you only have a narrow strip, see what CTRL+0 gives you as you may have inadvertently changed the page your self.

Switching skins works for now. We can't guarantee it will work once iNet implements what they consider their ultimate solution. They want the same skin and general look & feel to all their sites. The Lounge skin may not be available as they (iNet) want to use the Win skin.

Wondered why mine had changed from Lounge to WIN - thought the Lounge layout was for the ease of use for the members and not iNet !

I guess we'll have to wait and see. I hope they don't try to fill the sidebar with ads. That would turn me away from this forum.

Forums do not run for free, the ads are what pays for them. We will try to ensure they are as unobtrusive as possible, but ultimately it's really not our call.
