    HP Printer Problem

I have an HP Deskjet 1050 J410a printer.

My 301 XL Black ink cartridge, which had previously been refilled by Smile Ink, ran out. A friend took it to Cartridge World and they told him it couldn’t be refilled because “there was something wrong with the electricity” (sounds fishy to me) and they gave him what is described as a cartridge prefilled with HP 301 XL black ink. I inserted that cartridge and got a message about aligning it, but what was supposed to be the alignment page came out blank. Every page I try to print comes out blank. I uninstalled and reinstalled the HP driver software but it made no difference.

    Any ideas?

I would take it back and tell them you think there's something wrong with the electricity on that one.....

This may sound rather obvious but have you removed all packing materials from the cartridge especially including a thin film over the actual printhead?

I've seen too many instances where printers don't work with refilled or generic [non-brand] cartridges don't work. Haven't yet seen any damage to the printer when the correct cartridges were used. Some folks do have success with non-brand cartridges but no guarantee.

I haven't had any problems with those from www.stinkyink.com for my Epson, although I always give the cartridge a good shake before peeling the seal off and installing - but I'd still be tempted to take that one back.

When you check the ink levels, does it show it as full ?

Does the printer show the ink level? After I refilled my black cartridge I had to reset the level. Do a search for your cartridge and how to reset it after refilling. You simply put tape over certain contacts and run the alignment. This is where I found how to reset http://www.printerfillingstation.com...ons/HP/H28.htm If the old cartridge actually tripped empty there may be a problem requiring the reset.
