Can't install IE11x64 because already have more recent version: Really, then, where is it?

Hi, this is my first time posting so go easy on me please, be gentle. I'm running Windows7 Home Basic x64 and I uninstalled IE11 as I was having major issues. I was reliably (?) informed that Adobe Flash was the source of my grief and installing a 64 bit version of IE along with a 64 bit Flash player would solve all my problems. Seeing as I was near to mental collapse I wasn't overcome with shock when I encountered yet more heartache when I was told that installation of IE11 64 bit couldn't finish as I already had a more recent version already installed. Needless to say, I would probably have more luck trying to find El Dorado than this intensely shy IE11, so here I am appealing to anyone who may know where the little bugger (IE11 I'm referring to) could possibly be hiding. To say I look forward to a response is putting it mildly as this whole sorry affair has been going on for so long I can hardly bear thinking about it. Getting shot of the IE I knew about took years off my life, so I hope someone can help me out before the inevitable. I'll say thank you, in advance, to any potential life-savers.

If you originally got your IE 11 through Windows Update then you would already have had IE11 for 64 bit systems and Flashplayer only comes in the one version now and services both 32 and 64 bit.

If you uninstalled IE 11 from Installed updates it should have reverted you back to whichever IE version you upgraded from, so there shouldn't be anything of IE 11.

If you have another browser installed then you could try turning it off by unchecking its box in Programs and Features/Turn Windows features on or off and then try the direct download, but I would be inclined to use the restore points back to before you uninstalled IE 11 and just dump Flashplayer then reinstall it.

Thank you very much for your swift, and understandable response. As you've no doubt guessed this isn't my field and judging from what you tell me some people who offered me advice, which I took, don't seem to know a lot more than me and therefore it would be better if they did not pretend to. What you say explains a lot, it also clearly shows I've been given a right bum steer as everything I've done has been in good faith and with the understanding that these people know what the hell it is they're talking about. OK, it says quick reply, thank you again for your time and also for the fact I can actually follow what you wrote with ease, all the best to you.

Sudo, your reply is one of the clearest and most succinct I've seen in the lounge. I don't have this problem, but I read it over in case I run into problems after updating to IE 11 in the future.

Hi Sudo, I used Restore and then I thought I'd try another browser, IE isn't the only one in the world is it? It was during the installation process of Firefox that yet another major (in my little world) issue was brought to my attention, one that I suppose would be bad form to bang on about here so I'll leave it there. Thanks Sudo, keep those instructions clear!

When using Firefox you have to install the Adobe product plug-ins as FF doesn't use ActiveX Controls the way IE does - if these are the issues you had encountered.
