User feature in Word to let you reuse the same revision number across multiple docs?

    Hi all,

Is there a user feature in Word to let you reuse the same revision number across multiple docs?

For example, if I want to update the revision of a document and I want the other document to have the same revision. Is there a way of doing this?

    TIA

There is not a "user feature" designed for doing this. However, there are a number of ways of doing this in Word.

The way I would do it would be to store the revision number as an AutoText entry in a global template and use an AutoText field to pull it into the documents where it is needed. The same could be done with a text file holding the revision number and an IncludeText field pulling it in.

You could also simply have the revision number bookmarked in your main document and pull that into other documents from there.

    Wow! Thanks!

Slapping my head. Wow! I have done this so often myself and I have forgotten.

Not doing such fancy things with Word much these days.

    Thanks,
    Avraham
