    Backups

Simple question please. Do I need to physically unplug my external hard drive after doing backups?
    Thanks.

I don't do it. I shut down both my external drives, but I don't unplug them.

    Dave,

To prevent infection no just turn off as Rui said. Now as to other hazards like Fire & Theft personally I'd say yes and put them straight into a Fire Safe or off to your Safe Deposit box. I'm just sayin'... HTH

    have to?
    no

    should you
    yes!!

and use several of them that you rotate in case one fails or worse
it gets infected with some really bad scumware or totally encrypted for ransom

of course if your data has no value then why bother with any of the HDs at all
