    Monster Truck Routing Database?

    Hi All,

So I'm a newbie to your site here. I've read some really good stuff so I though maybe ya'll might be able to give guidance on a specific project we have.

I have a moderate level of access skills...currently using 2007, but can be upgraded to latest version if needed.

Basically, they used excel to keep track of all of our Monster Trucks routing. And ya'll know that excel isn't meeting our needs! The new guy on the team asked me about Access. I think it will work, but I want some suggestions on how to set up the data. Additionally, we must go back and add all of our historical data as well.

The amount of data we need to keep track of is staggering and there is no consistency or set pattern in the data.

Is there anyone who might be able to guide me before I even start this project. Some of things we need to track is...

    Date and/or week #
    Name of Truck
    Driver of truck
    Fee/$'s
    City, State (of Event)
    Venue Name (of Event)
    # of shows
    Comment/Hook
    Post Event Notes

I know this is a lot to ask of you. Especially, since I'm new here. But, we really are stuck and don't know if attending a class will help solve our query!

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

    S

Firstly you need to work out what input and output functions there are.

Then you need to determine what tables you need for those functions to work, and the relationships between tables.
    Maybe the following tables:
    Truck table
    Driver table
    Events table
    City/State table
Transaction table which is what you describe above.

From there you need to specify what is input and what tables are affected.

Good luck, if you need further assistance just ask.
