    OSSEC and windows.

    Hi,
I am one of two admins that support over 100 fast food stores that accept credit cards. The bank is threatening us with a 5 grand fine because we are not PCI approved. Part of being PCI approved is to have a Host Intrusion Detection system in place. Our PCI audit consultants suggested OSSEC as our HID system. The problem is that we are 100% Microsoft based and our knowledge of LINUX ends at knowing how to spell it. I've searched for a Microsoft based HID system but I have not been able to fine anything that would be compatible with remote OSSEC agents. Does anyone here know of a system.

    Thanks.

You shouldn't need to know Linux, the HID should be an appliance and you turn it on - or fire it up on a VM - and set your preferences.

    cheers, Paul

    Hello DrJt:

    Re: OSSEC

It runs on most operating systems, including Linux, MacOS, Solaris, HP-UX, AIX and Windows.
The following operating systems are supported by the OSSEC agent: Windows XP, Window 2000, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2003 and 2008.

All viruses are malware but not all malware are viruses and if the malware doesn't self replicate it just isn't a virus.
