    Win98 protocols 4 homenet w. ICS

What is the easiest, simplest protocol set-up for a P2P network of Win98 machines with ICS installed?

I have a three PC network (all Win98) up and running, with one PC set as a modem server using ICS. The network is on NetBEUI; ICS is on TCP/IP. The Windows Annoyances site recommends uninstalling NetBEUI with ICS as it may cause problems. (I was only able to get it to work by uninstalling NetBEUI, installing ICS, then re-installing NetBEUI.) What I've found on the subject implies that it would be better to run both the network and ICS on TCP/IP, but that requires setting IP addresses (for which I'd need a fool-proof recipe). What I currently have works -- but I'd rather spend the time now to do it right. Thanks in advance. Kirby.

So the one PC would be acting as a Proxy? And all you need are IP address for the rest?
You can use the IP addresses from the following private address range:
    10.0.0.1 - 10.254.254.254
packets with these IP addresses attached will be ignored on the internet.
You'll find an RFC (Request For Comments) describing the private numbering scheme
<A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.isi.edu/in-notes/rfc1918.txt>here</A> if you want to read more.

    Cheers
