I see Bruce beat me to it.

Strange that there are two removal guides on the same site for the same piece of malware. In any event, either one should fix you up.

I to have the Astromenda search running as my default search motor on Chrome.
I have tried both Malwarebytes and ADW and neither of them can even find astro'
I have also removed reference to it in chrome settings but it continues to be the default when I open chrome.

Have you tried either of the two links in posts #2 and #3?

Did you follow all the steps after uninstalling Astromenda? You have to also tweak the browser settings.

Follow all of the relevant steps in Jerry's link and use the Junkware Removal Tool link in BruceR's link as an added measure.

I'm surprised that AdwCleaner didn't pick it up but you may have better luck with JRT.
