    Embedded Movie in Word 2000 (Word 2000 Sr-1)

    Is there a way that if I embed a movie clip into a Word Document, that when a user opens that document, the movie starts to run.

    Thanks

    Yes, you can do this very easily. Create a Document_Open event and put this code in it:

    Sub PlayVideo()
    Dim aShape As InlineShape
    For Each aShape In ActiveDocument.InlineShapes
    If aShape.Type = wdInlineShapeEmbeddedOLEObject Then
    If aShape.OLEFormat.ClassType = "AVIFile" Then
    aShape.OLEFormat.DoVerb (wdOLEVerbPrimary)
    End If
    End If
    Next
    End Sub

    You may have to alter the code to account for the video as as shape instead of an inlineshape. Also, if you are trying to play quicktime or other video, the classtype would be different too.

    You will have to excuse my ignorance but how exactly do you go about creating an invent in the manner you described and can you explain the difference between a shape and an inlineshape. I am new to the VBA stuff.

    Thanks

    Billy,

    You've got a little homework to do. I suggest you take a look at <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/MacrosVBA/VBABasicsIn15Mins.htm>this link</A> (and other links at the site) to get started with VBA. Welcome aboard.
