    Windows service pack 1

I never did download this because I got a blue screen and had to do a restore. However now some things are telling me that I need this. (I want to install ie10 and cant because sp1 is not installed) Would it be safe to download sp1 now, I do not want to have to go through the trauma of a restore again if it didnt work. Or is there any other way I can get the updates separately. Google is not working for me currently and I was wondering if this is the problem.
It stopped a few days ago, not opening up, so I ininstalled it and now it wont reinstall properly.
    Thanks for any help

Yes, the Windows 7 SP1 is safe. I use the offline install file instead of Windows Update but it is fairly large.
    The first file here:

Be sure to use the version number of Windows when asking or searching as there's 4 versions still in use, WinXP, WinVista, Win7, Win8/8.1, and the SP files for each are different.
