    8.1 Shut down?

Sometimes my PC wont shut down, I click on ''shut down'' and nothing happens, nothing at all. This happens when I use shut down on the start screen or by right clicking the start button.
    Any ideas why this happens?

Make certain all running applications are closed and that other drives are not being written to.

Try one of these many ways to shut down Windows first.
    Then try SFC /SCANNOW

I don't usually like to do forced shutdowns, but if the need arises...

    DRIVE IMAGING
Invest a little time and energy in a well thought out BACKUP regimen and you will have minimal down time, and headache.

Build your own system; get everything you want and nothing you don't.
    Latest Build:
    ASUS X99 Deluxe, Core i7-5960X, Corsair Hydro H100i, Plextor M6e 256GB M.2 SSD, Corsair DOMINATOR Platinum 32GB DDR4@2666, W8.1 64 bit,
EVGA GTX980, Seasonic PLATINUM-1000W PSU, MountainMods U2-UFO Case, and 7 other internal drives.

Cheers Clint, I think it might be down to the computer doing something in the background as it doesn't happen all the time but I would expect a message telling me this. I'll have a look at the links and if/when it happens again I might have a look in task manager and see if anything is running that might be preventing it from shutting down.

I had an occasion the other day when the Power Users menu Shut Down, just kept restarting instead. Charms Bar Shut Down turned it off. See if it works for you.

    Cheers,
