Question re MyComputer

Something I've been wondering for literally years but never got around to asking...

In the MyComputer file browser, there's a New menu which I would normally use to create a new directory. However every program and its brother has also put in icons in there for everything for making a Word file to a Zip file to a Winamp file. I'm sure these are the reason why the dang thing takes several (extra long) seconds to appear. So how do I delete all the unnecessary crap off this menu?

Also, out of the box, is there a way to access this file explorer from the Start menu? All I see is Windows Explorer which is a different beast.

Thanks.

All shortcuts that appear in File | New menu are in ShellNew folder. You can easily access them using TweakUI utility from Control Panel (if it is not there, download and install it from
http://www.annoyances.org/exec/show/tweakui or download PowerToys from Windows Update website.) It is true, most of them (new shortcuts) absolutely unnecessary.
Answer to your another question: create shortcut to explorer.exe with /n switch ant put it to your Start menu (do you know how?)
For more information about Explorer switches see
