In MBAM/Settings/Detection and Protection you can set it to Ignore detections in the PuP dropdown while you install Chrome and then change it back again to Treat as malware or whatever.

Just wondering if google.co.uk will be changed to google.co.scotland if there's a Yes vote

I used your link ]http://www.google.co.uk/chrome and still get infections.

Found this in MBAM log, Astromenda and mysearchdial.com are the files that keeps reappearing with Chrome even if I uninstall Chrome with Revo and install using your link.

C:\Users\James\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\U ser Data\Default\Preferences

Did you change MBAM's settings to Ignore detections ?

I've found that while both MBAM and SAS have reported finding and removing PuPs, they've soon returned or have never gone away.

Is MBAM blocking Chrome's installation - if not, then install it anyway and then use AdwCleaner to root them out, or you could run AdwCleaner first.

If it is blocking its installation then you will have to install it in Safe Mode with Networking and you can download/run AdwCleaner in Safe Mode etc.

If you've never used AdwCleaner - close all windows/applications and click on Scan.

It may list items in the lower window which you may or not want to keep where you can uncheck the boxes for those if any.

When it has completed the Scan, click on Report and it will show what it has found - close the report and click on Clean.

It will produce another report after the reboot as to what it has cleaned.

You can then run another scan with MBAM to see if it still picks up those PuPs, having changed back the PuP detection setting.

Follow all steps listed here to remove Astromenda :

Then, to remove mysearchdial:

Removing the browser by uninstalling it is insuficient.
You'll continue to have this issue until the malware is eradicated.
The root folders for chrome may also need to be deleted and registry entries for Chrome removed, the malware and/or PUP should definately be delt with first.

I would also run AdwCleaner.

Talking about a clean copy of Google Chrome, has anyone downloaded and installed the Google Chrome StandAlone? I'm at work, don't have the download URL or version handy. I was able to install this StandAlone, it seems to not be in my face as much. HitmanPro keeps having to delete the search.conduit [which is nestled within Google Chrome somewhere] stuff though.

as i understand mbam and what it calls pup
and chrome with what you agreed to in order to install it

there is NO way to get what you want
there will be pups to mbam or you cant install it period

you can (i think) tell mbam to ignore that particular program during scans
or you can ignore the results and not do anything about those pups

you agreed to let google have everything they want to see/do with your pc
as i read the TOS you have to agree to in order to install mbam
and that is a pup to mbam

Not true. I have installed Chrome and run Malwarebytes Pro without it detecting PUPs.

What extensions, apps, plugins have been added and are being run presently? During the add this stage and/or during its run, X-whatever could be bringing along PUPs [or kitties] as "favors" to you.

Sounds like your Chrome has bad extensions. If so, then expect MBAM to keep complaining until you uninstall the bad extension(s).

You will probably need to exit MBAM while you sort out the Chrome extensions.

mbam does not find them in my chrome either
but it certainly could in the OPers version

but i know that i had to agree to things, that mbam considers pups in other programs,
in order to install chrome

dont know if chrome gets special treatment or gets a pass for some other reason
or if i installed it different or chrome diddled mbam or why
