    Improve WiFi signal

I friend of mine lives part time in a housing area where Internet connection is provided via WiFi. Unfortunately, the signal strength varies in the apartment and does not reach all rooms. Sometimes he needs to step out on the balcony to use his laptop or smart phone.
What can he do himself to improve the connection? Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Thanks

    Anders,

One possible solution is a Router/Repeater like this unit from Jeffa Tech. I used this unit in my Motorhome as Wi-Fi in campgrounds is notoriously bad. This unit w/antenna mounted on a painter's pole outside the RV (a big metal signal insulating box!) rebroadcasted the signal inside the RV allowing a strong signal that we could hook up both laptops, phones, and wireless printer to w/o a problem.
