    Windows Explorer search not working

    Hello,
I'm running Windows7 64bit and have begun to have problems with the search function in explorer. If I type a search term into the top right corner and hit search the process begins but never seems to finish. As the search 'progresses' the green completion bar grows slowly from left to right but never seems to finish. I've tried using the inbuilt diagnostic but it hasn't identified any problems.
    Thanks
    Joe

Have you run Error-checking on the drive? Right-click the drive letter, Properties, Tools. Could be the search is stalling on bad/corrupted files, have seen it happen. If you select both choices on the panel that starts the process you'll have to shut down then start up again to get it started.

You may need to rebuild the search index and/or modify the folders included in the index. By default system folders such as Program Files & Windows are not included in the index. If you regularly search those locations you should consider adding them to the search index.
