    Question Two wifi connections active?

Have an Asus laptop that has onboard (Atheros) 802.11n wifi. I also have a Netgear USB 802.11ac wifi adapter in the same computer. Both work well, but they both connect to my Nighthawk router when I boot up. I normally run 5G on the 11ac adapter and 2.4 on the onboard card, as it doesn't work that great with 5G.

I always disconnect the 2.4 connection manually (I know I can disable it, but sometimes don't use the adapter so want that to connect automatically) but notice nothing bad having both connections active. This seems kind of weird, I would expect them to fight for the internet connection.

    Thoughts?

Windows will give one priority and will swap if the higher priority one is not behaving.
