    Kb2976627

    Hello.
Problem ! This a/n update just will not install, it gets through about 1/5 of download then aborts. When installing other updates, they install fine but this one barfs on me. Can I "hide" it ? The machine runs fine regardless of this. W-7 machine and this update is for IE 11, it is of 51.1 MBs.
Further search says that it breacks something in IE 11, I used my friend, Google.
    I am all ears. Jean.

I have that KB installed, actually back on 8/15/2014, no problem on Win7 Ultimate 64-bit. It shows as Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB2976627), doesn't mention Internet Explorer 11 and it appears to not have a problem with IE11.

You can hide it in Control Panel, Windows Update, this is from Windows Help and Support:

Hide content I keep being offered an update from Windows that I don’t want or that I already removed.
You can hide the update, and then Windows Update won't offer it to you again unless you choose to restore it. Here's how to hide an update:

    Click to open Windows Update.

    Do one of the following:

Click the link that tells you important updates are available if you have important updates to hide.

Click the link that tells you optional updates are available if you have optional updates to hide.

Select any update that you want to hide, right-click it, and then click Hide update. Do this for each update you want to hide.

    Click OK.

I'm surprised you are getting that one as I think it was one of those pulled by MS - I don't have it installed on mine - just hide it.

An alternative is to restore to prior the other updates and then if they aren't auto reoffered, do a manual check for updates and it probably won't be included.

It's not one of those that was pulled, it's a cumulative security update for Internet Explorer and was rated critical for IE versions 6 to 11 inclusive. I have it installed without any problems.

It worked for some, but not for others and a fix was subsequently issued. Try this. Go to Windows Update in Control Panel and check for all updates. Deselect Kb2976627 if its there and download the rest.

Shortly after the WUs where it was included and didn't cause problems for me, I needed to restore for another reason and the only restore point was to prior the WUs.

When I was next prompted, I noticed there were just 12 instead of the previous 13 and this was the one which wasn't reoffered.

Sudo, I have it hidden and no side effect. Thanks to all. Jean.
