    Can't update Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit.

I'm running MBAE 1.03 on Win8.1 and when I run the latest version installer to update to 1.04 I get an error message

'Unable to execute file in the temporary directory. Setup aborted.
    Error 5: Access is denied'

I'm running Cryptoprevent, but removed all protection to no avail.

I have posted this on the MalwareBytes Forum, but I have great respect for you guys and would appreciate any advice.

Did you try downloading the installer to a different directory than temp?

I do download to a specific directory, I get the error after I double click the .exe file.
I tried copying the installer to C: drive but I get the same error message when I run it.

Have you tried specifically allowing MBAE and/or the installer file as an exception (whitelisting it) in your AV/AM active protection?

    Hello A1ex:

Please follow the recommendations to you from the author/developer here and then please update that thread.

    Thank you.
All viruses are malware but not all malware are viruses and if the malware doesn't self replicate it just isn't a virus.

I checked everything I could think of with no success, then I restarted in safe mode (amazed to find F8 worked while booting, like it used to in W7).
Installed/updated MBAE ok then, so I must have had a conflict with something else, I just couldn't find it.

    Anyway problem solved.
