    Symantec and...

    Hi -

A technican at Dell (I have Win 7) suggested Symantec was enough protection, that other programs might cause a conflict. I had WinPatrol, Malwarebytes and Spyblaster installed. Do you agree that they are not needed w/Symantec?

    Thank you.

I've had no problems with Symantec, WinPatrol & SpywareBlaster. Malwarebytes would only be run "on-demand," not real-time along with Symantec.

You should depend on defense in depth. No two anti-virus, anti-malware programs/suites detect "bad stuff" quite the same way and with the same degree of success. Running Symantec as your everyday suite is fine. IMO, you should have other products to run on demand periodically just as a double check of your system. The other tools you have will work.
