    Snap.do removal help

I had turned off Windows Media Player by mistake, and found out I needed it. We couldn't figure out how to turn it back on so we had downloaded what we thought was Windows Media Player, only to realise very fast that what we had installed wasn't. It had hijacked all of my internet browsers. It was a virus. AVG caught it straight away, and we ran malware bytes as well.

What a mess, we got the one bit of Snap.do removed that took over my browsers, but there's something called Snap.do in my programmes list, it won't unstiall. How do we fully get rid of this?

Its not a virus. Its called a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program). Use AdwCleaner to remove it..

Follow the directions in post2 and 3. Since you see it in Programs and Features click on it and select Uninstall.

Yes, I did. It's still there, so that didn't work.

Don't worry about using the uninstaller. This thing is intentionally difficult to uninstall. Run AdwCleaner and it will remove it for you. You may have to reset your homepage and search engine afterwards.

In programs and features sort the publisher column alphabetically. Uninstall any other programs from Resoft Ltd.

If she followed all the instructions in my link, she already ran AdwCleaner.

I already did that, and it's still there. Adwcleaner didn't work.

Found a solution. Made an account to tell you. check out this page http://www.vblaze.com/remove-search-snapdo-com/

    Specifically the regeddit info.

In short. Run regeddit, search for snap.do (ctr+f to search) and modify each find to google.com. Hit F3 to search for the next term. Repeat.

    Good luck

EDIT: Be very careful in regeddit... you can really screw things up in there!
