    office 2000 professional (9.0.2720)

I'm not sure exactly where to send these problems. In office 2000 I have lost the icons in the office shortcut bar. Also when I bring up any program in excel, I get a message, "compile error in hidden module TBRun". The icons in the shortcut bar have been replaced with question marks, Any help will be greatly appreciated .

First question (missing icons): right-click on the free space on the office shortcut bar and from pop-up menu choose "refresh icons"
Second question (errors in Visual Basic): try to repair Office installation. From Control Panel, double-click "Add/Remove Programs", from the list choose "Microsoft Office 2000...", click Change, then from the Installer screen choose "Repair Office"

If icons on your Office shortcut bar represent Office applications (Word, Excel etc) was replaced by question marks, your Office folder was moved or renamed. Check where your applications are (default is C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice), then right-click each icon with question mark and choose Properties. Click Find Target button: can it locate application? Because you mention VBA files are missing too, probably you need move or rename your Office folder back.

TBRun is part of the Textbridge OCR software you installed with a scanner.

I un-installed office 2000 and then reinstalled it to the default settings and still the office toolbar has ? marks in stead of the icons it originally had, Right clicking on them let me see the general tab but nothing shows in the shortcut tab, the find target button is greyed and not available.

Unfortunately, when you uninstall Office, Uninstall utility didn't removed your shortcuts. You must delete them manually first, then re-install Office Shortcut Bar. Depending of which version of Windows you have, Office shortcuts are stored in different locations. The reason the Target box is greyed out, these shortcuts point not to the application itself (as c:Program filesMicrosoft OfficeOfficewinword.exe), but to the Installer settings (for example, C:WINNTInstaller{00000409-78E1-11D2-B60F-006097C998E7}wordicon.exe).
You have two choices : manually delete all shortcuts from the Office shortcut Bar and
    - reinstall Office Shortcut Bar or
    - manually add all shortcuts you want

    To delete shortcuts:
    1. Right-click free space on the Office shortcut bar
    2. On the pop-up menu, choose Customize...
    3. Click Buttons tab
    4. In the "Show these Files and Buttons" window highlight the shortcut with the question mark
    5. Click Delete button
    6. Repeat 4. and 5. for all shortcuts with question marks
    7. Click OK

To create new shortcuts on the Office Shortcut Bar :
    1. - 3. As above
    4. Click Add File button
    5. In the Add File window, navigate to the application you want (for example, c:Program filesMicrosoft OfficeOfficewinword.exe)
    6. Click OK
    7. Repeat 4. and 5. for each application you want to add
    8. Click OK

To change shortcut description in pop-up yellow tag:
    1. Right-click shortcut button
    2. From pop-up menu, choose Rename...
    3. In the Rename window, type the description you want
    4. Click OK

To re-install Microsoft Office Shortcut Bar:
    1. From Control Panel (Start | Settings | Control Panel) double-click Add/Remove Programs
    2. In the Installed Programs window, highlight Microsoft Office 2000...
    3. Click Change
    4. From Setup window, click "Add or Remove Features"
    5. Click the + sign left from Office Tools, then Microsoft Office Shortcut Bar
    6. From pop-up menu, choose "Not Available"
    7. Click Update Now button
    8. Repeat steps 1. - 5. if necessary
    9. From pop-up menu, choose "Run from my compurer"
    10. Click "Update Now" button
