    Set Device Options (Win98SE)

    During a transition to new stuff in our office I was confronted with a DBASEIV routine that takes information from one program and jams it into a dbase routine and I have been able to run this batch file up to a point.........this is where I'm stuck:

    ENDCASE
    ENDSCAN
    SET DEVICE TO PRINT

    I'd like to find out how to set this in Win98SE before I pick up my last pay check!

    Could you post the entire dBase IV program? I have a lot of xBase experience, but, can not do much with the fragment you posted.

    Also, what error are you getting?

    The error is simply that once this data is manipulated and the "Set Device To Print" fails to call the local printer...... I'm not certain this is the correct "call" for the printer or should there be a "Device = LPT1" in the confuzzer's Config.sys??

    These are dBase commands, not DOS commands.

    The configuration file used is CONFIG.DB. CONFIG.SYS is the DOS environment config file.

    The general structure of a dBase program which creates a report is:

    SET CONSOLE OFF
    SET PRINTER TO NAME 'fileserverprinter_name'
    SET DEVICE TO PRINTER
    SET PRINTER ON

    ??? " "
    @ prow(),pcol() say chr(15) &&& or other setting commands
    @ prow()+1,01 say "everything..."
    ...
    ...
    ...
    EJECT
    SET PRINTER OFF
    SET PRINTER TO lpt1
    SET CONSOLE ON
    SET DEVICE TO SCREEN

    Hi wokoun:

    Sounds like either your print job is not being closed or the printer is set to the wrong profile.

    Could you zip a copy of the network batch procedure and the dbase program and attach them to a post. I can give you more help when I see the whole picture.

    Is your network printer set that it can print from dos ?
    If I remember well, this question is asked when you install a network printer.
