    FTP access blocked

I changed a security slider to the recommended level from one level below. Now I cannot FTP pages to my website. I can't remember where I accessed the slider! I have inhibited the Windows firewall, and FTP still does not work -- same with G Data antivirus. Can anyone give me a clue where that slider is located?

The "problem" was the Comcast router firewall.

I changed the setting from Minimum Security to Typical Security, and that prevented the FTP from connecting. Now I am considering using Custom Security. Does anyone have a suggestion how to get more security than "minimum" by checking these boxes -- and still allow FTP to connect?

The router / firewall effectively blocks unsolicited requests. If your PC tells the firewall to allow certain things, like FTP, then that is allowed. Used in conjunction with the Windows firewall you will not have anyone accessing your PC from the internet. Adjusting the router security settings will most likely come back to bite you, as you've discovered.

    cheers, Paul
