Problem with Skype Automatic Update settings

Just updated Skype to the latest version (6.20.0.104).

When I go to Tools/Options/Advanced/Automatic Updates, it says "You need administrator access to change this setting, which affects everyone using Skype on this machine."

I'm running Win 7 Pro, and I am the administrator (and only user) of this machine, yet I cannot adjust this setting. I've tried "run as administrator" when starting Skype, but that doesn't help.

How can I change the automatic update setting in Skype (I just want to disable it)?

Actually, the latest version of Skype is 6.21.85.104

    To turn off Auto Updates:
    Open the main Skype window
    > Tools
    > Options
    > Advanced
    >Automatic Updates
Hit the button that says "Turn Off Automatic Updates"
    Hit Save

    Cheers,
    Drew

    Drew, from my original post:

Sorry, fully grasp it, now. If you have not do this, already... Please, uninstall Skype. Go back to Skype.com & install the latest version from scratch. Pls, let me know if any change after that. Thanks.

    Cheers,

    Thanks, Drew.

If I uninstall Skype, will I lose all of my contacts when I install the new version?

Also, FYI, version 6.20.0.104 was the version that Skype installed when I did the recent update. Why wouldn't Skype update to the latest version that you mentioned?

    Les,

No, you will not lose contacts.

Because the version to which we refer is the Preview. So one has to get it manually. It is what we are running, is much nicer/cooler & has the higher version #. On Skype's page click on Download the Preview (it's in blue in the text, not the big button).

    Cheers,
    Drew
