    Firefox32 homepage gets hijacked

    Hi,

I run FF32 browser & it won't retain the home pg (website) I choose.

Googled the net for solutions tried several to no avail. Have also done several malware, trojan, virus, toolbar, etc. scans to no avail.

Have same problem in IE 11 which I posted on the IE forum.

    Any suggestion are greatly appreciated.

    cheers,

    klx

Use Tools-->Options-->General. Make sure that only the page you want as the homepage is open. Close any other tabs. Choose "Show My Homepage" and "Use Current Pages"

Had you downloaded anything prior to this - using restore points to prior the event could restore your browsers.

I would normally advise running AdwCleaner but it appears to be compromised at the moment and isn't available for download, so try JunkWare Removal Tool.

It's quite possible that you have picked up one of the listed PuPs which would affect all browsers and standard malware scanners may not pick these up.

Just because you don't know where you are going doesn't mean any road will get you there.

Also, Firefox version 33 has been released. Might not hurt to download it for later install.

    www.winpatrol.com download the free version.
be sure and check the box under the options tab marked lock file types or every MS update will drive you crazy.
it has 'hijack log' built in, run it and save or print a copy - for advice as to what you should remove goto www.blackviper.com
if something tries to change your homepage it will ask if you will allow your homepage to be changed so you can disallow that.
it will ask if you will allow something new to be added to your startup

i've been using this program since win98, I put it on every PC that i work on and it's one of the first things i check we i revisit those PCs.
