    Working with queries

    Hi all
First post here. I am working in access 2007. I have a table with a column that hold drawing numbers ie. 10-1066 or 10A-1066. These drawings are held on our server and the address looks like this - \\Ipd037f01\drawings$\10_-size\10-1066.pdf or
    \\Ipd037f01\drawings$\10A-size\10A-1066.pdf
So I want the next column in my table to go from 10-1066 to 10-1066#\\Ipd037f01\drawings$\10_-size\10-1066.pdf#, so that when I set up a form with a text box or a list box to show this text I will have it set that the control is a hyperlink.
I have managed to create a query that changes 10-1066 to what I want by using a few colunms in the query but how do I put the result back into the original table. Or how do I connect the column in the query to the column in the table where I want the text to go.

I see an issue if you change the server name or location. It may be worth saving the server and share as a single entry that you then concatenate with the drawing path, then changing server / share is a one row update.

    cheers, Paul

Hi Paul, sorry, what do you mean server / share. What's the share.
I managed to get it done.

In the URL "\\Ipd037f01\drawings$\10_-size\10-1066.pdf", "\\Ipd037f01" is the server, "drawings$" is the share and "\10_-size\10-1066.pdf" is the path and file.

    cheers, Paul
