Desktop shortcut to initiate an email

I know that I can use, for instance, mailto:cwbillow@componentics.com to start and e-mail.

But is there a way to have that shortcut also set the display name as, for instance, Chuck Billow instead of cwbillow@componentics.com?

    Regards,
    Chuck Billow

I just did such a New shortcut using my info as a test and it brought up Outlook. Then I renamed the shortcut to Berton and it still worked. Is that what you are looking for? Only issue I see is that it fills in the To line in the message composing window with my address, may not be as desired.

See Command Line Switches for Outlook 2013 or Command-line switches for Outlook 2010.

Read the 2013 version first. It explains the /m switch in more detail.

    Joe,

I'm on the right track, I think, but I'm missing something.

    The command-line "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\OUTLOOK.EXE" /c ipm.note /m "Chuck Billow"

Gives me an e-mail with "Chuck Billow" showing in the "To:", but it is text, and the email address itself is not part of the "equation."

I got it, Joe. The display name has to match the "Display As" field...duh!

    Thanks,
    Chuck
