Lost of downloading speed with IDM

I am using AT&T as provider. I just upgraded my speed from 6 Mbps to 12Mbps. While with 6Mbps I could download with speed of 4 to 6Mbps. But once I upgraded to 12Mbps, I could only download with a speed of 1 to 1.3Mbps depending on number of downloads. I have not change anything on my PC. I had a problem finding the gateway after upgrade, but AT&T help me get thru that problem. I did not test the speed until later. I have a Windows 8.1 64 bit and 16Gb memory. So, I am at a lost for the different speeds of downloading. I also tried JDownloader and USDownload as well a straight download thru the browser (Firefox 32.0.2) Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Since you say you have not changed anything on the PC this seems like an AT&T problem. You'll need to get them to run some diagnostics from their end.

If you're a prolific downloader they might be throttling you.
It wouldn't surprise me with AT&T.

I guess I will call them tomorrow. I haven't had a problem of throtting my speed yet.

    Thanks for the replies.
