Battery charge icon - disappeared and impossible to restore

    Since today.
    Lenovo g550, Windows 7.
All of a sudden - I cannot find that icon when I click on that triangle at the right down corner.
I can add that laptop is 4 and half year old, and that it is constantly on charge because the battery is so old that it empties in a jiffy.
I suppose I need to buy another battery.

I typed "battery charge" in Search and found - I can't remember now I am writing this from my desk top - something like settings of the battery icon or something.
But whwn I went there, I saw that battery charge icon is set "off", and this field is impossible to change into "on". As someone changed customs but I know that no one did it.

Was it a kind of automatic act as a result of old battery?!

    Thanks.

See if this Notification Area Icon reset batch file will do it for you http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...ons-reset.html

Restore points are also handy things to try.

I finally found Noticiation Icons Area or something, and
Volume and Power icons are grayed and set OFF as per default.
    I cannot enable them.

Let's see if I can walk you through the article I'd linked.

Before running any 3rd party fix it's best to create a restore point first http://www.dummies.com/how-to/conten...windows-7.html

Your downloads are probably pre-set to go into the Downloads folder but you can change this to the Desktop in IE by clicking on the Tools cog - click on View downloads and in the bottom left corner, click on Options.

Click on Browse then on Desktop - Select Folder - OK then Close to close the View downloads window.

You can then click on the blue Download button in the article to download the Batch file and select Save.

This will put an icon on your desktop which you then double click on - click on Yes if you are presented with a UAC window.

That will open a Command window as in the article and just follow the prompts as they appear.

Type y and press enter when prompted to restart the computer and then try the Notification Area again to set the icons how you want them - if they haven't already reinstated.

You can change the downloads back to Downloads when finished by repeating those steps and selecting Downloads.
