Change WB Properties (EXCEL 97/2000)

Asked this some time (a year?) ago already; is there since a (new) way to write the WorkBook properties from VBA? (These are normally "read-only").

Another one is the "User-Name" (in Tools / Options / General), this one is added to comments AND comment status-lines.
Obviously, the comment itself can be edited but the comment-status-line can not (I think).
I have an VBA-app that adds comments to cells, I don't want the "User Name" displayed in the comment status line however...
Luckily the User-Name is NOT read-only, but the way I do it now:
* save the current name
* replace with my application name
* create the comment
* restore the original name

is a bit tricky.. (sometimes my app crashes and the user is left with a replaced user name). Are there better (more direct) ways?

Thanks,

Erik Jan

Erik,

You could use the following procedure to insert the comment as it can omit th euser name.
Sub InsertComment()
ActiveCell.AddComment InputBox("Enter Text for Comment")
End Sub
