    Robocopy and same directory

    Hi

With the Robocopy command of Windows 8.x, how do I do a copy of a file (renaming it) in the same directory of the source file?

    Thanks

    Bye

You wouldn't use Robocopy to do that!

    copy d:\directory\originalfile.txt d:\directory\copiedfile.txt

    would be my choice.

Or another choice in Win8/8.1 File Explorer and Win7 Windows Explorer is to right-click a file, drag to a blank area and choose Copy here, it will be renamed [added to] which then can be renamed as desired. Example, Zorin 9 MD5SUM.txt becomes Zorin 9 MD5SUM - Copy.txt.
