    Talking Need Some Key Basic Tests For A Win 8 Laptop

    For a Lenova u310, I need to know what are the key basic tests to run on it to see if there's anything wrong with it.

    Got it from someone. Appears to be a mistake.

    It's getting difficult to keep track of the number of threads you have opened for this machine and while I've advised you of Lenovo's Solution Center in the "No audio" thread, this is a PDF link for the user manual for your machine https://www.lenovo.com/shop/americas...u410_ug_en.pdf which can walk you through a factory reset and is probably the best place to start with a machine with indeterminate problems.

    Create a new folder on the Desktop. Name it:-

    God Mode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

    The folder icon will change to a Control Panel icon. Click to open and you now have access to all the Windows tools in one place. Scroll down and you will find a section called "Troubleshooting" devoted to testing and repair tools.

    As it has been factory reset go to Lenovo Support and download any relevant updated drivers.

    This one is for Lenovo UK http://support.lenovo.com/gb/en and this one is for Lenovo US http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products but if you require a different location, then Google Lenovo support - your country and see what comes up.

    By you, or the person you got it from?

    Opinion: That would depend upon how much it cost you and how willing you are to go to the trouble of fixing it. I've taken several in that had problems, mostly HDDs, and fixed them up to be quite usable. Most had WinXP but I kept a couple that now run a version of Linux Mint as the hardware requirements are not as great as for some versions of Windows.

    So...
    If you reset the machine also, what [specifically] is wrong with it?
    You are asking for help, but you are NOT providing any specific information.
