    Windows live mail crashing

I am using windows live mail. I have used it in windows 7, 8 and 8.1. It occasionally crashes - once per day or more. When I restart it I find that some of the emails - usually the one I was clicking on - wont re open. It is becoming a real pain.
Suggestions on how to deal with it or fix it.
    Thanks.

Provide more info on how your accounts are set up and types of accounts used.

I have a mix of POP and IMAP accounts and rarely have issues, so more info is helpful.

    Try repairing WLM.

As I recall, go to Control Panel/Programs and Features then click on Windows Live Essentials, then click on the "Change" button immediately above the list of programs. If there is no "Change" button then click on the "Uninstall" button and you should see an option to repair any Windows Live Essentials programs you have installed.

The repair function didn't help. Possibly it aggravated it.

I believe you can uninstall and reinstall WL without losing your emails. Ask around here before doing so.

    That's right.

But safest to back up the WLM data files (including emails) first. From memory they are located at:

    C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail

    and

    C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail

You might have to "Show all files" to access the AppData folder.
