    FlashLight Apps Corrupt?

I received an email today that says many of the top flashlight apps for smart phones are corrupt and are stealing our information. See http://www.snoopwall.com/threat-reports-10-01-2014/ for more details. Is this legitimate information?

    Thanks,
    Bill

I've read numerous articles for some time about a number of apps but especially the flashlight app that do just what the article says. It's not new information and that site has it's own flashlight app I see.

FWIW its not the Apps that are currupt its the software producers.
I do remember last week ? reading that some tester someplace tested a number of those type apps and found the vast majority to be spyware. I don't have the link. He's suggestion was look for a small file size, how much code does it take to turn on an led??

oops that was the same link.

A bit of vapor ware on the site but maybe you can trust their led app.

Good article Bruce. I will continue to not put Flashlight or most other apps on my Android though because of the extensive permissions you give away. It seems that 99% of the apps want more than they need to run IMHO.
