Subtotal Formula (2000)

    Hello

I have a small worksheet with 3 columns. A is date and the data must remain in that order. B is income (currency) and C is source of income (text). What I would like to do is total all of the values in column B where and only where the text in C is a specific word.

I don't use Excel often but am used to Access so I filtered the list for the word and did a SUM B but it added all the filtered out amounts too.

Is there a simple way of doing what I would like to do?

    Any advice greatly appreciated.

    Regards

You should be able to use the SUMIF function to do this. If the values are in A1:C100, then use:

=SUMIF(C1:C100,"specific word",B1:B100)
