Whichever it is, we can now "expect a lot of these cheaper Windows PCs and tablets gracing other Black Friday ads soon."

powered by win 8.1 is an oxymoron

that thing is slower than a snail crawling through molasses on a beach

XP would be powered by but not 8.1
    8.1 should read crippled by

    No speedball.
There seems to be something wrong with whatever your machine is. I have a W-8 Acer here and it snaps to attention as a good soldier. I also run W-10 TP on a dated Lenovo and it is quicker still than the W-8. Have a look at your insides, well, tour machine ones. Jean.

In the U.S., Thanksgiving falls on Thursday, November 27th this year.
"Black Friday" is the day after Thanksgiving, November 28th, 2014.

What, a Friday the 13th? Is it in November or December?

My point exactly. Therefore, there are no more this year.

The original post was written from a USA point of view. See Black Friday (shopping) for a more detailed explanation. Pay attention to the USA part of the discussion.

"Black Friday" is kinda of a big deal over here.

    In 2013, approximately

    141 million U.S. consumers

    shopped during

    Black Friday,

    spending a total of

    $57.4 billion,
    ...
$57.4 (£36.4) Billion in one day isn't too shabby.
