    Question Lost Office 2007 Help

    Hi,
Not sure how long it has been missing, but today tried to use help in Access. It did not work. Tried Word, same problem. Do not have the CDs, since 2007 was installed two and half years ago when viruses crashed my laptop. The shop loaded 2007 because they did not have anything older. Sice thrn they went out of business.
    Hope you can help,
    Sarge

If Office 2007 is still listed in Programs and Features you can right click on it and select Repair but while you can still download a fresh copy, you will need its product key.

You could try Belarc Advisor to see if it has the product key still listed, but I'm not sure how a 300+MB program can go walkabout on its own

I take it you hadn't created any system images after it had been disinfected ?

You may have to look at using something like the free LibreOffice

I have created at lease two small Access programs for my use. Most of the other work has been upgrades to to customer's programs. I used help a lot when I first got 2007, as it was so different. Office 2007 was part of the system after the crash. I am not sure what you mean when you suggested listed in Program and Features?

The trial version of Office 2007 came preinstalled with earlier OEM Win 7 computers and could be uninstalled along with other bloatware if not needed/wanted.

As a paid for version, whether installed or activated from the trial version, it will still appear in Programs and Features as long it is installed.

When you right click on it, you will have a Repair option.

Were any of the Google items in Berton's link any help ?

I am still XP, only Office is 2007. No luck with Berton's link. Think I will have to live without Help. Thanks.

I only go back as far as Win 7 but my first laptop came with 2007 and one I bought about a year later came with 2010 preinstalled.

A program the size of Office just doesn't disappear - download MiniToolBox and check the box for List Installed Programs to see what that finds.

Okay, I downloaded office help and now have help with word. However, help does not work with access. The help files are on the computer, but access 2007 does not seem to know where or how to open or read them. Can not find any thing on the net to help me.

    Thanks All,
I had Office 2007 reloaded. It did no good. However, I was told to go to the All User folder. Then I went to the Microsoft Office folder, and renamed it Microsoft Office Old. I then opened each of the Office Apps and depressed the F1 key. Microsoft then rebuilt F1 help. So now I have Office F1 help for all the Apps.

Seems like a drawn out process to get things working again, but glad you were able to sort it.
