    mailmerge & attachments (2000)

I may be in way over my head with this forum but ... Is there anyway to use mail merge with email and attach a word file to the merged files? I'm trying to send a short survey to a small group (50ish) and I can not seem to get the survey attached to the merged email. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Funny you should ask. The latest Woody's Office is devoted to merge issues and includes a section on email. I've attached it for your review as a text file. Maybe it will get you going.

Yes, I found the latest version of Woody's Office very helpful. It made it much easier to set up the merge. It is also the reason I got as far as I did. It was able to merge to a printed letter and outlook email letter. Unfortunately, I never did figure out how to attach a word file to the merged email. I think this is a situation where a little knowledge is dangerous and I don't know enough to fix it! I've gone back to inserting the atttachment into the body of the email.

It is buried! After you have set up your Word Document and added the merge field (at least one) you can click the Merge icon. Just to the right of the "Merge to" is an Settings. . . icon. Clicking this will give you the option of adding the Word file as an attachment. Hope this helps!

    Re: mailmerge & attachments (2000)

I appreciate all the suggestions but I gave up in desperation. I had to get things moving and had spent far to much time on finding "an easier way to do it". I learned a bunch about selecting specific contacts for the email merge (rather than the whole list) and sorting and viewing the contacts list. I ended up doing a merge to a printed letter and just enclosing the Word survey. I figured out how to merge everything as an attachment but never figured out how to merge an email letter with a word attachment.

    Again, thanks for the suggestion! <img src=/S/drop.gif border=0 alt=drop width=23 height=23> <img src=/S/drop.gif border=0 alt=drop width=23 height=23>
