win 10 preview destroyed my win 7 setup

    Hello,Alol,
    WARNING ....WARNING.....WARNING!!!!
I followed Fred Langa's tutorial on how to use win 10 preview in virtual box. I use it everyday with my linux distros. so I"m familiar with that process . However win 10 completely ignored my VB settings and went directly to my HD with NO warnings what it was doing!!!!! NOW -- what reputable company would write software that would wipe out a system????? Now I know why people refer to M$ as an evil empire???? I agree. It will take me weeks to restore my system to its original state if ever !!Carbonite helped in the MS stuff but, they don't work with thunderbird.....12 plus years of email lost!!! Thanks M$.. The last ms mess I'll every own...

That is unfortunate. This is the first report I've seen of anything like this. I doubt that Microsoft has done anything to do what you describe.

It is a very difficult lesson but shows the value of regular backups.

Apparently, the Windows 10 also formatted the hard-drive just before installing itself?
If not, his Mozilla Thunderbird are still on his hard-drive. This might help for the mailboxes:
    C:\Users\Stoller\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profi les\6yozc0do.default\Mail\pop.att.yahoo.com
You may have to dork around, as your user name, profile default, pop addy will be different.
