Curious numlock behaviour in Windows TP

On power up the numlock indicator comes on.

By the time I reach the GUI dual boot O/S screen it is off!

If I choose the TP, the numlock indicator stays off yet the numeric keypad behaves as if it is on. Pressing the numlock button turns the indicator on and now the numeric keypad behaves as if it is off! Pressing it again returns to the previous state.

No problems when booting into Windows 8 so that rules out a keyboard problem.

ETA, just used the feedback app to add myself to the other other 3 that have reported this!

Hello, Browni. I confirm this here too. But it is just the LED that misbehaves. The NumLock key is behaving normally. In my case, the LED is totally dead, whether the function is ON or OFF.

A little later ! I got to the BIOS and turned OFF the numeric key on booting. This did not change anything, same funny behaviour. Jean.

Num Lock function and indicator works fine on my Logitech keyboard in Win 10 TP. Perhaps its a function of the individual keyboard driver?

    Cheers for the replies.

I'm using a bog standard PS/2 keyboard with drivers from 2006!

Jerry, I have tried 5 different Keyboards and all have the same bug. Looks to me like the driver would be in W-10 TP and not in BIOS or am I shooting off the wrong hip ?

I went into installed updates but could not see which one could have done this damage. It was not there, this bug, last week. Jean.

    Browni, hello.
Have you noticed that the Num key has been fixed ? Mine here, anyway.

    Edit :

Oooops, it is on full time, stuck on but the keys follow the phantom selection ! Go search.

    Hello, Jerry.
This morning, after a TP session, I initiated a turn OFF to Sleep and the corner of my eye caught a Num Lock DEL showing bright but I could not test it, the machine was 1/2 way through its shut down. I turned it back on but no LED on the Num Lock, shoot, I missed it. Its behaviour is normal though. You mentioned that your Logiteck KB was fine. How this be, a curious mind would like to know. Be good. Jean.

Jean, my keyboard uses an onscreen display whenever I toggle Caps lock or Num Lock rather than LEDs. So far, the display has been accurate I assume because of the specific Logitech driver.

OK, Jerry. One up on me. I noticed this morning, that the Num Lock LED will misbehave a little. It is ON when TP is booting and turns OFF when the "Windows" comes on screen. This might be a pointer for the coders. It is also ON when BIOS does its trick ??? I have not noticed yet, when it first turns OFF.

    Jean.
