    thumb drives

    Can the data on thumb drives be erased and how would I do it ? thx

    Left click on data to be deleted to highlight it and press shift/delete keys and click on ok in the popup window. That will delete the data forever.

    Another way is to right-click on the thumbdrive in Computer then click on "format".
    Computer Consultant/Technician since 1998 (first PC was Atari 1040STE in 1988).

    You can also use one of the secure erase tools to write 1 pass of random data to the file you wish to delete.

    Use the Drive Wipe tool in Ccleaner.

    depends

    what is your requirement

    do you want to reuse the space
    then just delete the data

    want to get rid of built in crapware
    then do a reformat


    want to protect it from nsa or kgb
    then you need to drill lots of small holes through the drive
    smash it with a sledge hammer
    and then put it in a disk of gasoline and throw in a match
