Windows update KB3003057 fails reverting changes

I have tried several times to install this update and keep having the same problem. It installs ok reboots and gets to 88% then I get the message reverting changes reboots and everything is fine but no update. I downloaded and installed manually same thing. No error messages. I use firefox should I be concerned about IE updates? Windows 7 32 bit on a macbook 2007. Thanks Jeff

Try installing it in safe mode.

Try running the update as an Administrator. I've had to do this in the past for Win7 (currently my OS is Win8). It usually installed when I did this.

I have my Windows Updates set to ask which ones I want to download and install. What directory would the updates be stored in, so that one can right-click/run as administrator on each update?

Not sure usually I download and install directly from the windows update screen. I manually downloaded this one and its in my download folder. It's a msu file and don't have the option of installing as administrator.
