Got it but seems the Upgrade procedure from 17 won't be available for a few days, don't care to do a clean just yet.

    Upgrade instructions:

If you want to upgrade from Linux Mint 17.1 RC, simply launch the Update Manager and install any Level 1 update available.
If you want to upgrade from Linux Mint 17, please wait for a few days while we release a new version of the Update Manager to you. In the meantime, you do not need to download or to reinstall anything. We’ll make announcements next week when this is ready.

I have two virtual machines on VMware Player, one Linux Mint 17 Qiana, and another one Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca RC.

I have already updated Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca from RC to Release, and I can wait for the new version of the update manager to update Linux Mint 17 Qiana to 17.1 Rebecca. Once I have checked the update to make sure it works, I will delete the former Linux Mint 17 Qiana since I don't need two of the same version.

I just went back to Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca and reran the sudo apt-get upgrade, and got the result:
0 upgraded, 0 newly Installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

I just went back to Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca and ran sudo apt-get update, with the result that all the connections failed. Then I went to Linux Mint 17 Qiana, and all the links there failed too.

This probably means that the server where the links are stored is down.

Just because you don't know where you are going doesn't mean any road will get you there.

Linux kernel 3.16.0-25 has just become available as an upgrade to Linux Mint 17.1.

The initial kernel was 3.13.0-24, and the last upgrade was 3.13.0-40, so this is a fairly major kernel upgrade.

Of course as the Warning says

Installed the 17.1 Upgrade on my Desktop and Notebook, so far no issues.

I have read several reviews, and everyone is having a good experience, and no issues.
