No wonder they went extinct (for the most part). The only thing I could figure out was "group biography" and buried, is OIL! Something about the superficial nature of social networking but that's not funny either...hmmm.

First I ever saw this strip though so I have absolutely no context of the artist's leanings (what he or she is shooting at). Give me a Gary Larson any day...every day!

    FUN,

That link, unfortunately, was only good for the day and for some reason the navigation tools at the top will not let you get back to 11/30 currently, most likely because it was a Sunday! HTH

So I was looking at the wrong day for the strip. Admittedly I was not able to reference any programming humor in the one I viewed so I had my suspicions as well as a healthy dollop of confusion.

RG, I assume that the strip you were referring to was http://www.gocomics.com/dinosaur-comics/2014/11/28. As you say, there's no strips on Saturday and Sunday, so that one would have been showing over the weekend.

I think I get it, I vaguely remember pointers, but weren't they in assembler programming?

I'm equally as foggy, I may have used pointers back in the day for arrays containing variables...or not.?

    Hey Y'all,

I used to teach C and pointers were THE THING in C.

Does anybody have a copy of programming humor in which a long chain of things go wrong, thing goes right, else goes wrong, finally, at the very end....

I thought this was going to be about the computer programmer sitting at home. His wife said, "Can you go to the shop please, and get a loaf of bread? And if they have eggs, get a dozen."

He came back with twelve loaves...

Just on the pointers thing, if you use VBA you are probably using pointers most of the time since the default way of passing arguments is ByRef.

I always liked the old COBOL syntax joke:

DIVIDE 8 INTO cake GIVING slices.

(of course you should divide the cake into 8...)

Time prevents everything happening all at once...
