Pornography theme? I need an anti virus.

I just switched my computer on , went to the mail app and checked my EMails, nothing was in there nor did I open anything suspicious.
When I closed mail down my desktop was changed to some gay porn, in my themes I deleted the gay porn theme and everything seems normal now, can anyone recommend a good free anti virus scan for 8.1?

You may have clicked on something that you thought came from somebody or company you know well. Both Avast and AVG are free antiviri programs, they work very well. Spybot Search & Destroy and Malwarebytes AntiMalware are free antimalware programs, they work very well. Was a browser downloading some freebie games or "Windows free stuff" while your email app was on? Because even my decent freebies often come with "exras," I suspect you were taken advantage of by something from within the email [?you clicked on something somewhere?] or from within your browser.

That sounds more like an evil prankster putting something in the rotation whom you may know, rather than a virus or malware trick; unless you're absolutely sure no one else has had access to the computer by any means.
I could easily do something like that to one of my buddies computers that I keep a remote backup on...but of course, I'm not that evil.

I'm thinking its the Neanderthals down in the workshop at work, my laptop at work is signed into my MS account, if someone messed around with that computer would it show up on my home computer?

That might very well be it if you have synchronization settings on for computers signed into that account. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/sync-settings-pcs
