windows updates okay on toshiba but the intel updates always fail

i get all the windows updates fine on our toshiba laptop but not the intel ones

is there some setting i need to tweak to get all the updates including intel

the message says they are important updates
(important to them or me ?)

should i worry about these intel updates not happening ?

not sure why i need intel updates at all
    isnt that the cpu chip?
can those things be updated at all ?

The first question, is what is Intel trying to update? look in the process tab of the Task Manager, and find the Intel process that is running, that is telling you that you have important updates.

That is of course assuming that the name of the process includes "Intel".

Do an internet search on the process name, and see if you can find out what it is.

The update is going to be for either some kind of system utility, which you apparently are not using, or more likely drivers for Intel hardware. If you having some kind of problem with your Intel hardware, then you will probably want to update your drivers. Even if you are not having a hardware problem, it could be a security issue.

But first you need to find out what it is.

Are these failing Intel updates from Intel or the Toshiba Support site ?

i have no idea about that so will have to look into it

the updater goes up and tries to update stuff
    the windows updates work

but it says intel updates failed
and they are also marked important or critical or somesuch

I would go to Toshiba Support and check which are newer driver updates.

About 6 months after I got this Toshiba laptop, Toshiba Tempro alerted me to a BIOS update and a couple of others which updated without any problems.

Sometimes a driver won't install because it is the wrong one, such as one from the driver manufacturer's site when the correct driver should come from the computer support site because it's been OEM modified - hence my question.

Agreed, have found that some Microsoft driver updates are not always correct for some computers.
