Determine what Windows is updating before updating begin.

How to tell what Windows is updating before updating (ie its KB number to research it).
It seems one only sees its KB number after clicking on Install….

(I have Check for updates but let me choose...)

    Thank you

Go to the Microsoft support site, http://support.microsoft.com/search/ and enter the KBNumber in the search field, then click the search button. That will usually bring up a short explanation and a link to a more thorough explanation. If you click on the link to the more thorough explanation there are usually additional links there for downloading the update to your PC and install it directly.
Create a fresh drive image before making system changes, in case you need to start over!

On the Windows Update screen you will see "X updates are available". Clicking on these will show you the updates and allow you to search for more information.
