    Word 2010 error opening files

If I double-click a file, or right-click and choose "Open" I get the error shown below. If I right-click and choose "Edit" the file opens fine.

I ran a repair on Office, but that did no good. How can I fix this?

    Regards,
    Chuck Billow

Work-around suggestion: Have Word open all the time or use File>Open from within Word to access files.

I have no idea why your system is doing this but expect that it will not happen if Word has already been open for a while. Word startup can take a few seconds and it can get confused. I suspect it is connected to Add-Ins loading. You can have Add-Ins even if you don't think you do and know you did not install any.

Charles, if I open the file (via Edit), make any change at all, resave the file, same name (overwrite), then it seems fine. Something got glitched somewhere / how.
